Annual ceremonies at the Sheldonian Theatre

For students who complete non-matriculated award-bearing courses

The Award Ceremonies take place at the Sheldonian Theatre in March and May. These events are the culmination of the student experience on our non-matriculated award-bearing courses, and many students travel from around the world to attend their ceremony.

Matriculated students (receiving Master's and DPhils) attend a graduation ceremony with their college instead. Please contact your College Administrator for further details about your college graduation ceremony.

Award Ceremony Dates for 2026

Tuesday 17 March 2026, 6pm
Wednesday 13 May 2026, 6pm

The ceremonies are for students who completed courses in 2024-2025. Invitations will be sent out for both ceremonies at the beginning of Februaury 2026.

Success stories

Former students of the Department have continued studies through the University of Oxford, achieving higher degrees, or have gone on to pursue careers connected to courses they have studied at the Department. You can read some student spotlights here.
