Why choose an event with Oxford Lifelong Learning?

A programme for every interest

Whether you want to explore new interests, deepen your knowledge, enjoy cultural enrichment or connect with like-minded peers, we have something for you.

Gain direct access to leading thinkers, with opportunities to ask questions and expand your understanding in a supportive setting. Many events benefit from our close connections across Oxford, offering unique collaborations and cultural access.

Experience Oxford, online or in person

In-person events take place in the heart of Oxford, giving you the chance to combine learning with exploring the world's most famous university city. Online events offer the same high-quality teaching, accessible from anywhere in the world. Some of our in-person events are also livestreamed, so you can choose how to attend – look for 'hybrid' in the event listings.

Where and how do events take place?

Online events

Online day and weekend events are delivered live, with real-time discussion with tutors and other participants.

We expect to send out joining instructions, including the joining link (MS Teams or Zoom depending on the event type), two days before the event start date.

Online events, including livestreamed hybrid events, are not recorded.

In-person events

The majority of our in-person events take place at either of our two locations in Oxford for face-to-face teaching.

  • Rewley House, 1 Wellington Square, Oxford, OX1 2JA
  • Ewert House, Ewert Place, Banbury Road, Summertown, Oxford, OX2 7DD

Some events, such as walking tours, may start or end at other locations in Oxford. Full location details can be found on each course page.

For details of parking and accessibility at Rewley House please see full information about our facilities.

Accommodation may, subject to availability, be booked online for some of our two-day weekend events when you register online. Accommodation is not available to book directly online when registering for our other events but, depending on availability, you may be able to stay at Rewley House before and/or after your event. Our accommodation in Wellington Square has been rated as 4-Star Campus Accommodation under Visit England. For more details, and to check for availability, see our accommodation information.

For those who live abroad, we are not able to assist with visa enquiries and applications.

What level are events taught at?

Level and demands

Nearly all of our open-access events are entry-level and are designed for beginners, with no previous knowledge needed, only interest and an enthusiasm to learn. Where prior knowledge will help, this will be clearly indicated on the event page.

All events are non-assessed and don't require coursework, therefore they are not accredited and attendees will not be awarded any form of qualification.
