Explore energy systems in use today, and how they are involved in an unprecedented Energy Transition in order to reduce pollution and climate change risks. Understand these risks and their mitigation through Net Zero targets and innovation.
This summer course covers a globally important issue with respect to climate change risks, environmental change, energy and trade.
We will examine existing energy and fuel use, as well as infrastructure, for the major sources in use globally. Innovation is producing evolving technologies, which have their own implementation challenges.
The costs and benefits of fossil, nuclear and renewable energy sources will be examined in order to understand how best to manage and meet growing energy demands. The need for, and strategies to achieve, Net Zero targets will also covered.
This course aims to give you a holistic view of the opportunities and challenges involved in ensuring energy accessibility, reliability, security and sustainability for present and future generations.
This course is part of the Oxford University Summer School for Adults (OUSSA) programme.
