Christine Berberich

Dr Christine Berberich is Associate Professor in Literature at the University of Portsmouth, UK. She specialises in 20th and 20th Century British and European literatures, in particular on cultural constructions of English National Identity and BrexLit as well as literary commemorations of the Holocaust. She has published widely and on a variety of authors (such as PG Wodehouse, Ian Fleming, Evelyn Waugh, Kazuo Ishiguro, Julian Barnes and WG Sebald). Her books include The Image of the English Gentleman in 20th Century Literature: Englishness and Nostalgia, as well as (among others) the edited collections The Bloomsbury Introduction to Popular FictionTrauma & Memory: the Holocaust in Contemporary Culture, and Brexit and the Migrant Voice. She is currently at work on a research monograph on Nazi Noir and a public-facing book on PG Wodehouse and the Civilian Internment Camp Ilag VIII.
